There seems to be two models available, a Jager Aquarium Heater and a Jager Precision Aquarium Heater. Any ideas what the difference is between the two and are either electronically controlled rather than using the traditiional bi-metallic strip?

I've just had a Hagen heater malfunction - it got stuck on and by the time we had noticed it had heated my son's tank up to 34°C and was still going! Luckily, he is in the middle of a fishless cycle so no harm done, but it's pretty much convinced me to go for electronic thermostat models in future.

Looking at the Eheim website the Jager aquarium heater appears to be a Bi-metallic strip operated heater and the Jager Precision aquarium heater appears to be electronic.

Thanks, I did look on their website, but couldn't see that in the descriptions. I'll take another look.

Its not very clear but on the Precision Aquarium heater page it say:
"the JÄGER adjustable heater is an ultra-modern electronic thermal device with best available technology "

whilst the other says:
"the JÄGER aquarium heater is an ultra-modern thermal device using the best available technology"
