Hi everyone.
Absolutely gutted tonight - I have an electric blue jack Dempsey in my main tank which I've had from being 1" big and he was getting to 2-3" and a stunning fish in my tank.
Tonight I came home and he was swimming round with one eye! And literally a hole where the eye used to be that looked fresh and incredibly painful - it was literally as if his eye had been ripped straight out of its socket!
The fish didn't seem to be in any pain or freaking out - but he really isn't looking well now a few hours later and I think it's going to be the end soon, I'm gutted!
Any ideas on what to do if he does make it through the night? And have you witnessed this before? I've never seen anything of the sort - hence why I'm so shocked.
Tank makes include a 3-4" Severum which I've never seen even attempt to bother in the tank, it's a really placid fish. On the other hand I've got two bandit/'panda' cichlids which have been breeding. Could these be culprits? They're a good 4" each at the moment. If they've done the damage I'll be really annoyed and frankly might get rid of them to avoid anything like this in the future!
The only other fish are 2 gouramis and a couple of plecs which won't have bothered at all.
Any help appreciated!
