this has potential Andy...but again, i agree with everyone here...you're gonna end up with algae covered HC and that will not be good. I have managed to grow HC under a 11w arc pod and it spread well. That was with the use of Carbo and then swapped to Floranaxis. Good luck with it Andy! :good:

Thanks Ian!

What I don't understand however, is everyones worries about the light?

As far as I am aware, if you have non limiting co2, flow and fertiliser then high light isn't a problem? Admittedly its going to be a bit of trial and error to get the co2 and flow right, but once that's sorted it should be fine?

I don't know, but it'll be interesting to follow my journal so you can all say 'I told you so' when it does go wrong :shifty:

Its only a worry for your sake dude, everyone on here is helpful so only giving advice. Who wants to see beautiful HC grown under ARC Pods that gets covered in algae after seriously upgrading the lighting. If your fine with loosing the plants in the tank and money wasted its your choice but some people struggle just to get it to grow where as you have a good chance of a beautiful aquarium that you may ruin is all. I think plant people have a self preservation instinct for plants too lol.

I hope it works, I really do.

I dont think anyone on here would say I told you so lol.

Oh come on, everyone would love to say I told you so haha.

I don't mind though, it is just for an experiment and if I start to notice algae and increasing the co2 doesn't fix it, I'll just go back to the arc pods. No harm done (hopefully).

I appreciate all the advice however, of course

non limiting CO2 and adequate ferts+ high light is not a problem however that is talking under water.

On a dry start tank yes there is non limiting CO2, the substrate will supply the nutrient but whack a huge amount of light over the top and you will get loads of cyano and mould and algae growing on the substrate inbetween the HC. With the dry start method there isn't any need for high light. There is no water diffusing it and with non limiting CO2 it utilised what light ther is much better anyway.

Therefore in a tank what is usually considered as highlight is uber highlight when the water is removed.

Andy

Well I was only planning on upgrading the light after it has been filled, so that's good. I just need to perfect my Co2 dissolution.

Cheers Andy :good:

Latest pictures. My light and co2 bottle arrived.

It's been over 3 months since my last post but my tank has filled out now. I'm pretty happy with it, I'm just waiting for the hairgrass to grow taller.

looks lovely mate, when did you get the atomisers??

Had them in for about a week now Ian. Completely forgot to let you know (you asked in August :p)

If you want any let me know and I'll sort you out with a discount code.

Andy

Wow what great looking progress from the August pics. Fantastic to see it as it is now :) Job's a good'un :good:

Thanks guys.

FishyJake13: For the first few months I kept it with the single light on and growth was good but a bit slow. For the past two weeks ive had both lights on and I've noticed much faster growth and a lot more pearling. No signs of algae either, I just give it a weekly water change and clean the glass and it's fine :D
