About a month and a half ago I started up my 165G reef tank, and added a LOT of live rock. No fish or anything. Today when I went to rearrange some of the rocks, I see an 18" moray  it's about 18" long, dark brown with lighter brown stripes, and keeps trying to bite me  I haven't put any food or anything in the tank so he has gone awhile without any.

got a pic? that goes up there with some of the cooler hitchhikers. one guy on reef central got an octopus, thats gotta be the coolest ever.

I can't find my camera! But he looks exactly like a "barred moray eel"

like ben said up there with the octopus i wanna see the guy in a pic you should get a cam just because this is o cool

Wow nice one :hyper:
I have got to agree you have got to get a pic up; :good: I can’t wait to see this one
What you planning to do with it?

Probably can't keep him as I wanted a reef tank with smaller fish. I have a feeling if I kept it I would have no small fish but one very fat eel  a friend of mine has a 600ish gallon reef with larger more aggressive fish, I may put it in there. Either way he is one hardy eel, surviving through a huge ammonia and nitrite spike through my cycle

My goodness, that would have scare the whats-its out of me! and I would want it out soon as
