Hi all,

Thanks to all those who helped me get through the cycling process

My tank inhabitants (so far) are as follows

3 Tiny baby Angels
4 Male Dwarf Gouami,
4 Male Three Spot Gourami,
8 Zebra Danios
8 Black Widow Tetra
5 Mollies (2 Dalmation, 2 Black, 1 White)
3 Corydora Sterbai

Tank = 300ltr bow front Aqua one Amazon
Filter = Aquis 1200

Fairly well planted, fed on Liquid Carbon & TBN+

4 survived the nitrite misreading (half the danios). Im still annoyed with API about that, "off the scale" should NOT be so close to "zero".

Still Im through and the tank looks lovely :) :good:

Thanks WD ! :)

Im gonna get some angels at the weekend, and maybe some more gouramis. The LFS said gourami species wont feel "lonely" if they are mixed with other gouramis.

My Nephews get to choose a couple of fish each, and I am planning on guiding them towards some gouramis, mollies or plattys - basicly things that arent too expensive and are nice and colourful. What do you guys think?

The LFS said to aviod Pictus Cats - which is a shame as I think they look so nice. Do you agree with the LFS? What other nice bottom feeders might I be able to get? I dont particulally like fish that spend their whole time stuck to the glass though...

Tempted still by some shrimp, but my wife thinks they look creepy. Do they always breed to the point where your tank has loads in, and sit about in their old shell casings ?

What other fish do you guys think would compliment my tank? Are all the species in sufficiently large groups (its a 300ltr tank) - I dont want any of them to feel lonley. They all seem to play together quite well, although the corys hang back at feeding time.

i recomend a large group (like 8+) harlequins and some more cories, and something like glowlight tetras? personally i like shrimp and plan on getting 10 cherry shrimp in my big tank when i get it (300-400L)

Cheers all - corys are fab and play with the others, will get some more of them to play with prob 3.

Will look into the other suggestions.

One of the 3 spots iseems to be a bit of a bully :< , but there is another one who tries to keep him in check  .

Danios are dumb little fishes - they keep surfing on the flow from the filter. they dont seem to shoal mnuch, should I add 4 more to get them to shoal.

I do hope Ive not got carried away but I cant help it - they are all so pretty

I sometimes think of danios as "minnows." The more you get, the more they are just a teaming mass athletically bending about one another, smoothly and quickly. Its quite fascinating in its own right, but its quite different from the classic "shoal" that you get from tetras, where a shoal is truly part of their being. Here on the forum the word shoal gets used loosely. In fact, shoaling as we've said is quite different between, say, danios, tetras and corys. For corys its like.. "group and play".. lets all sit still on the bottom individually, then all of a sudden lets all go play in the waterfall together, lol.
