Fish Aficionado
Went for a wellness check at WalMart today.
Saw a bunch of sickies. One in particular had somewhat shredded fins and lots of pinholes in his fins. and oodles of cottony white patches all over him. His water was horriffic - was only about 1.5 inches of water in there. AND ironically he looked just like Amos.
I picked up the cup and walked over to a woman working in that section. I showed her the cup and told her that he was really sick - and they needed to treat him soon or he'd die. She said "I can't do anything about it. We don't have meds to treat them with here." I said "Maybe you guys shouldn't sell fish here then." and walked back over to the wall where the bettas were kept. She said AGAIN "I'm sorry, I can't do anything about it." to which I said "As I said - then you cuys shouldn't sell fish here." I put him in my cart and off I went.
If you've ever been to a WM on a Sunday, you know just how crowded it was in that store today.
THEN... when I was checking out, I had the fish in my hand - a couple in front of me in line asked me what it was. I went on to tell them it was a betta fish I was rescuing because they don't care about taking good care of their fish. I then told them it was the fifth one I've rescued. He said "How very WalMartish - they just want to make money." and he shook his head in disgust. His wife told me how "neat" it was that I help these fish out. Then, when they left, they said "Keep up the good work."
He's now in nice warm medicated water swimming happily around in the other room. I took pictures of him - I'll post them tomorrow.![wub  ](/images/smilies/ipb/wub.png)
