I could see they'd be interesting, but really..!
When I rejoined the hobby, I was bemused by the new interest in snails and shrimp.

Now, having acquired a few amano, some red cherries and a couple of wood shrimp, I can fully appreciate the attraction.

Last night, one of my woods clambered out of the darkness of my my panting, heaved itself to the top of one of my aforementioned plants and and hypnotised me with its paddles, whilst one of my cherries unloaded its berries into the tank.
This morning, I stared, fascinated, whilst an algae wafer was inundated by pink shrimp.

They do really add a lot of life to a tank. Then again my tanks always had a ton of "pest" snails in them anyway and I was always happy with that.

I've grown to appreciate my snails, but I confess...I'd struggle to sit and watch a snail for an hour and forty minutes.
That wood shrimp, with its hypnotic paddles, on the other hand...

Shrimps are interesting.
If you can get the Sulawesi shrimps especially the White socks, their colours are amazing.
But they require special Sulawesi minerals with RO water.

Interesting, but as I'm a long way from creating specialised shrimp-only tanks and have fish to consider, whilst keeping costs down, I'm happy with what I have.
That said, as I've already said, I can really see the appeal of these creatures now.
