It's Over.

Thank you.
I just really hope that the fishes had a great life with me. Now, I am moving and getting a bigger tank. A better tank.
They got me to a better place, I hope they had a great life too.

Just read through this, Truly gutted for you buddy, i would have been devastated too.

Hope you get the new tank sorted nicely, we'll all be here for ya!

Thanks :)

My local LFS said it will be at least a month till they can start shipping it, idk why.
At least I can get things sorted out first.

it probably moved because of the nerves dying and random impulses being sent...

dont give up :) do you know what caused it at all? heater Etc?

If its a tank they dont sell many of (expensive, big, or both) they probably wont stock them, would be uneconomical for a LFS (not a chain store) to purchase special tank to stock, as they dont sell often, so will only purchase on order, ie, you.

It may even be that (should it be a solid wood cabinet etc) they built to order.

Either way, it would be a shame to lose an experienced keeper, so im glad you've ordered a new tank. Keep on it!

Definitely not the heater, because it wasn't plugged in. It broke months ago, and didn't function properly.
The only thing I can think of is that the silicone let loose, and it broke. Its freaking mysterious :dunno:

I actually started packing, and moving in to my new place soon.

They didn't have it in stock (just the one they show), and they said it would take a week and a half to ship. I went back today, and they said it would be a month, and if I wanted to change my order, I could.
I changed the shipping address and cabinet color, and it's set ! :)

Thanks Mowbz, but I'm not an experienced keeper, I was massively overstocked! I have so much to learn!

You had fish but cared about them too, that's more than some. And you knew you were overstocked, which is good, because you were probably doing all necessary bits to run an overstocked tank. The tank exploding isn't a result of overstocking, and lots of people have overstocked tanks. Its not bad providing you do the bits you have to when running ovestock (over filter etc). (Check out most Mbuna tanks, most are overstocked by way of normality)

Glad things are looking better for you already!

About the water damage, if the landlord's insurance doesn't cover it, do you have your own house insurance, in case your landlord will bill you for the repairs? Also, if you do have your own insurance (which is really a good idea to have no matter where you live) they can have it out with your landlord's insurance about who is responsible for covering the costs, since it obviously was not something you have caused!!!

And I just want to add, that most of us are still having a lot to learn about fish-keeping, or being water-keepers!!! That your tank exploded was a freak accident and could happen to the experienced aquarist as well! So, don't feel bad about yourself, and good for you that you're getting up, dusting off your knees and making plans for a new set up!!! :good:

Thanks ! :)

No worries about the insurance tough, I am moving.
Just waiting to get my new tank, and start doing things the way they should be done.
:)

Indeed, or if you dont have any ammonia, throw some fish food in each morning and test the water in the evening. I would try and keep it at around 0.25ppm until a day before you put it back on the tank, then give it nothing.

Yeah, I do that. I have a large ammount of fish food left, so it all goes into my bucket to grow bacterias :)
Hope it speeds my cycle, I am really excited! :D

chin up mate, you,ve had some rotten luck.
if your tank isnt perfectly level it can put to much strain on one seam causing it to pop,
i only mention it as the same thing happened to a friend last year, he new what happened as the tank didnt fall and smash like yours did.
anyhow, im glad your getting a new and improved tank to start over, be sure and post pics when you get it set up.
