Ok I posted in the emergencies forum, but I read a post in here where someone said their khuli liked to hang out in the filter. I think two of mine might be in there, and I want to check but I don't want them to jump out and I don't want to hurt them. How do you suggest I go about checking if they are in there? I haven't seen them since this morning. Anyway, if it turns out they are in there [how would they get in tehre?] is it ok for them to be in there? :/ :dunno:

:hi: to the forum. Introduce yourself in the newbie section.

Are you sure they didn't jump out or are under gravel or sand. Which substrate do you have?

As for being in your filter, I am not sure if that is good or bad. I would think that there is a chance they could get stuck and that they might not get enough food. I wouldn't rally know though. :dunno:

I have a medium rounded gravel.
I don't know if they've jumped out there is only a tiny opening they could have done that through, and I don't see them on the ground. I posted in the emergencies section and I'm getting some response there. Thanks for your answer though, and I checked the filter and they weren't in tehre anyway. :dunno: :)

It is possible that they are in your filter, what filter do you have? If it is something like a Juwel internal which is run by a small pump head then they can easily get in and live.

Several members have "lost" loaches of various type only to find them alive or dead in their filter. Loaches are attracted to caves and "holes", if your filter has inlet openings in it, (most non ugf or sponge), then it is quite possible the current drew it in while it was investigating the hole.

With loaches, it is always a good idea to cover the end of the inlet with a fine enough material that it is impossible for them to get drawn in.

ok its definitely official now... its been over 24 hours and they have not surfaced, though the other one loves to play around. The case of the missing black khulis

Probably so. I found one of mine alive and happy in my filter when I first got them. It went in through the outflow and stayed there. Had it been sucked in, it would've been stuck in the intake or sliced, diced and sushied into the outflow behind the filter pad. Check the area of the outflow first before you go looking elsewhere.
