So, tank has only been set up since Sunday, but it does have 7KGs of good quality live rock with some mushrooms, feather dusters and some other critters already been seen.
Anyway, this morning I turned the tank lights on and noticed some hairy yellow legs disappearing between two of the rock, until it had completely disappeared from view. I'm guessing it's some sort of crab, but it was a reasonable size (much larger than the tiny one I saw on the second day, which I haven't seen since). If I turn lights out and tie a frozen prawn to some cotton, do you think it might come out? I'd like to get an idea on size and also if it's a good or bad critter.
Also, whilst I was sitting there trying to figure out what to do, in a period of about 5 minutes, and all from the same area of rock (but not the same as where the crab was hiding), something seemed to eject what looked like slime/mush into the water and within seconds, the flow had broken it up and it was gone. I'm guessing it's something living in the rock, but wondered if anyone had seen this before?
Thanks
Martin
