Wow. Where'd you get your tank? I can't wait to see some more progress from you .

Its a aquaone tank, it was my first tank i had brought back to life again

progress is slow now waiting for cycle to finish, should not be to long now

diatoms today, its amazing how quick they appeared a tiny bit yesterday and covered half the rocks today, cycle is going well by the look of it time to start sorting a cuc

thinking the usual snails and hermits
1 peppermint shrinp (got a couple of aiptapsia these things grow fast !)
1 mithrax crab
1 or 2 cleaner or fire shrimp

I am tempted by a pistol shrinp and goby after the peppermint has done its work think it might be to much for a 15g
(almost brought a 28x17x20 today at lfs it was a custom size they ordered and got the size wrong £35.00 bargin)

What do think ? (not the tank i would get shot if i came home with another)

not much happening today, was hoping to get cuc this weekend but still have a bit of ammonia , diatoms looking good now starting to cover the filter pipes should give the cuc plenty to eat !

CUC sounds good, found it hard to find anyone around here who has a mithrax crab at the moment, i would add a couple of snails to that list, you can get turbo's from Erdington, but for anything other than that you will probably have to go up to wharf mate.

Watch how much you pay for a shrimp too, couple of places round here trying to sell cleaner shrimp for £30 when they should be around £12 - £15, should be less than a tenner for a peppermint shrimp too.

Once your Ammonia has backed off i would get the snails and crab but maybe wait a week or so until you get the shrimp, as they are very sensitive at times.

erdington have mithrax (emerald) crabs at a tenner, hoping to swap some of my f1 cichlid fry for the rest at AD aquatics

Have they actually got them in now? Last few times i went there was a label for them but none in the tank, thats where i got my mithrax from a while ago, and he disapeared into the rocks never to be seen again.

Another update !

At last ammonia down to 0 for the last 2 day actually every thing is at 0 even phosphate, gh is off the scale, kh could do with coming up a bit but im sure that will come.

diatoms are everywhere now thank god the cuc can go in, was going to get them today but problem with my cichlid tank is today's work

green things remind me of cyanobacteria(sp?) Tank should come nicely though

Not sure about the tentacle like green stuff but the green staining on the rocks is actually coralline algae, and its good, coralline can appear green, a lot of my rocks went green first, then the purple coralline grew over that.

Is that second pic an aiptasia? If so get a turkey baster and suck it out!

more updates

been spending again cuc is ordered and i have a emerald crab its been in the tank now for 6 hours and has not stopped eating really cool to watch.( got it from wharf)

also came home with a bargain from ebay as well, a Giesemann 150w halide with 2 9w pc for the grand total of £51.00 and as a bonus it comes with a nearly new 14k arcadia bulb

almost a week now and the snails and crab are doing great, one of my hermits has moved to a bigger shell i put in for him, my rock and substrate is all nice and clean and i think i found out why my cycle took a while i found a dead crab !

Time to add my shrimp this weekend going for 2 cleaner shrimp.

Been a while so time for an update.

I had a bit of a problem with the tank, a nasty gorilla crab which eat my hermits i had to tame it in order to kill it.

after that i moved house 3 tanks to move and i had no losses.

so im now settled in the new house my 35g tank is on the back burner for a while ( to much diy on the list )

I have added 5 red leg hermits and 1 turbo snail so now i have

5 red leg hermits
1 turbo snail
1 emerald crab ( very tame now )
1 peppermint shrimp ( getting tame i can feed it by hand )
5 Cerith snails
10 Nassarius snails
1 Astrea snail

also thinking of adding 1 cleaner shrimp ?

Time to start thinking about adding fish, so im after some ideas maybe something a bit different ( the fish will be added to a 28x20x17 tank in about 6 months).

I like the idea of a hawkfish but have read different opinions as to weather there suitable ?

so any one have any ideas oh and it will be a reef tank so reef friendly

and i was just wondering what you used to cut through the plastic to fit in the fans
