Did a post get deleted? I don't see any attitudes. Maybe a difference of opinion about Nitrates but nothing else.
As to the cooling, if you are going to do it it needs to be controlled. I used to hear the horror stories every year of someone who was worried about the heat and attempted to cool their tank with ice. I'm sure that some people did this without harming making their fish sick but enough of them did it wrong that I don't suggest doing it unless you've got a special need for it, a reef tank for example. If it needs to be done for extended periods, get a thermostatically controlled cooler.
I think in the case of the OP, a cooler is not necessary. Keeping the ambient temperature down would be much safer. It shouldn't be too hard to get the average daily temp down a few degrees. Taking advantage of lower PM temps to cool down the dwelling, blocking the sun and keeping doors and windows closes during the day, can make a huge difference.
One of the best pieces of advice here is to avoid fluctuations. Don't cool the water unless you know you can keep it cool.
