I have just noticed one of my black mollys has white spots on its fins, can someone tell me if this is ich?
If so, how do i treat it without spending on treatments? i mean ... ive heard you can use table salt, if so how much? will it affect my plants? & as i have 2 african dwarf frogs will it affect them? ...

You can buy fairly inexpensive white spot treatments... I think these would be better than hoping aquarium salt clears it up.

You could start by raising the temperature if the tank a fraction.

Ive chased the little #29### round the tank & taken 30 pictures, this was the best one i could get ....

im really worried now, ive had the tank a year now & never had this before ... what do i do?

added anything new to the tank recently? ornaments, plants?

Yes, i added all the plants a couple of weeks ago, thats when i also added the 2 african dwarf frogs.
Does the anti white spot reatment affect the plants & frogs?

Try reading the many posts on ich in the emergency section, including some of the pinned ones. You should find all the info you need on treating it. http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/forum/2-tropical-fish-emergencies/

Highlighting the need for quarantining. Both plants and livestock can carry infections and parasites into your tank.

Photo does look like ich. read up on the treatments suggest in the link posted.

Im off to my LFS in a bit to buy some API ich treatment.
Im just a little worried about the plants & frogs. I would assume the plants would be ok whilst treating with this but are the african dwarf frogs? will they have to be sparated?

I'm not certain if the frogs need special treatment.

White spot is a parasite that lives both on fish and in the substrate during different parts of its life cycle. As such everything in that tank right now needs to be treated for a full cycle.

Thanks ...
I only put the silca sand last saturday too, i hope i dont have to change it already

Ok ... just got bk, ive got interpet anti white spot.
Stupidly enough i dont know how much to use as i cant use the chart.
I have a 25 gallon tank,, does anyone use this & know how much i am supposed to dose & how often?

Ok, ive found out how much to use. Now i need to be sure about leaving the carbon in as i have read many people take it out, yet on the box it states filterproof .... what do i do .... risk leaving the carbon in?
