I will keep a close eye on him and my other fish...if it is white spot it will grow and will become more noticeable.

what is a fungal infection?

It doesnt look like ich to me. Ich looks more like individual grains of salt on the body. It could be a rub wound, and if it hasnt developed fungus then it could - so to be on the safe side I would do a dose of something like Interpet No.8 for anti fungus & finrot.

Best way to describe a fungal infection is that its a kind of mouldy bacteria that grows. Fungal infections are commonly seen as cotton mouth or fuzzy white patches. Stressed fish in poor quality water and environments are more susceptible to this disease. Fungal infections are notorious for developing in unhealthy or injured fish, particularly in poorly-cared for tanks, so make sure to check the water quality and keep it as pristine as possible.

Have you got two redtail black sharks in the tank? If so then they are probably fighting and the white marks are scars from scales being pulled out. If you do have 2 sharks in the tank then remove one and do some water changes and gravel cleans. Monitor the fish for signs of secondary infection. If the damaged area goes white and fluffy then treat it with a fungal medication. If the area goes red and inflamed then treat it with a broad spectrum anti-bacterial medication.
If the water is good and the fish healthy it shouldn't become infected and will heal up in a week or two.

ok, there isn't any fish in there that would do that sort of damage to the shark, however if it got stuck under a rock or in some wood that might have caused the damage. Give it a few days and make sure it doesn't get worse. If it gets fungus or a bacterial infection then treat it, otherwise leave it to heal up by itself.
