hi there just wanted to let ya all know one of my swordtails has just about babys and i have counted 93 live babies plus she ate around ten so that would av been 103 babys .................. is this the biggest birth let me know if anyone beat it ?

for real?!!!!! jezzz she mus of been big , i dont know if its the biggest birth or not but it sertainly sounds like My Mollie has just has babies i counted 8 and im sure some more are about hiding in bushes Guess your going to have to keep tight water stats from now on do you have them in a fry tank? my fry tank filter is playing up and the new one isnt cycled so what babies i have are going to have to stay in the big tank. good luck with the babies

hi thanks for that yeh she was massive and got really aggresive nr the end babys in breeder net as they small and gonna be going into my fry tank in week or so

congrats on all your babies!!!!!!
our swordie had 50+ babies about 6 months ago & i thought that was a lot!!!!
we put ours in our fry tank & managed to raise all of them but 2 who died of unknown causes. thank goodness we found 2 lfs who agreed to rehome them.

Well a livebearer giving birth 100+ is the most they are able to give birth to. It all depends on their diet. The better variety of a diet the better chances of more fry. Also feeding live foods or frozen foods will make the livebearer have healthier fry. Everytime my swordtails have had fry there are a few that do die because they come curved up into a ball upon birth. Well hope the remaining 80 fry live to grow up. I have 61 fry and they are all over 1 month old. The older ones are 3 months old, then come the 2 month old ones and finally the 1 month old fry. Good luck with your fry

Nope, it's not the biggest ever, sorry. Paulthegreat and Doris have had 127.

Congrats on all your babies though, that's a pretty big number!

I've heard around 140, but that was from a Guppy Forum I belong to. Congrats on your many babies, though! She must've been well fed The most my livebearer has had is 55.
