I plan on eventually getting two 2ft tanks, 1ft tall so around 56litres each. Would this unit be ok to put them on?

clicky

id imagine so but i would put sheets of plastic down on the shelves cause if the chipbord gets wet it will start to morph and may become unstable

As long as the horizontal braces are strong enough to resist flexing, it should be fine at supporting a pair of tanks. When you set it up be certain to leave enough room above each of your tanks to perform routine maintenance like water changes and gravel vacs. Take it from me, experience has really cost me a lot here, anything short of a decent space will mean the tanks do not get the attention that they should. Also, be certain not to put a tank on a shelf that is too close to the floor. You will some day want to do a water change by partially draining the bottom tank.

Finally getting around to setting up this rack, I feel like I'm spamming the hardware + DIY forum at the moment! What does everyone think of this: http://www.bigdug.co.uk/clearance-c18/plastic-clearance-shelving-c78/plastic-clearance-shelving-pp1421?pfm=browse

It doesn't look to sturdy to me, but its cheap and it says it holds 90kg per shelf, more than I need (and more than the metal shelving on that website!).

Is 90Kg the breaking point or when it begins to flex? They're usually a bit generous on the ratings too, I would just put a few weights if you have on it to see if it flexes or rocks, I honestly think horizontal movement is the worst possible scenario for shelving like that.
