Is this normal

Billy, my betta who I have had for six months, swims to the bottom of the bowl and digs his head into the rocks at the bottom of the bowl. (He really doesn't do it a lot but every day or two maybe.) Is that normal?

sounds to me like he is trying to get trapped bits of food, very cleaver fish.
