Is This Normal?

The pet shop I buy my supplies from is fairly good on the upkeepings of all of their animals, bettas included. The lady keeps the bettas in decently sized jars, roughly 8x6 inches or so. She changes their water out every other day. And she usually dosn't have more than 10 at a time so each is well taken care of. It's where I buy all of my foodstuffs for my geckos, ( and now my betta :D ).

However, such is not the case in most places I go. At my local Wal-Mart I can't even stand to go back to the fish aisle... It's so pathetic, all of their fish are sickly looking, especially the betta's. They're kept in little tupperware things just barely big enough for them to move. They're all stuffed in a dark corner stacked one on top of another quite a few high. :( I don't see why people think that they need to do that, it's so stupid.

Wow, it must be a lot different here in the US. I don't think I've ever seen a betta for sale that wasn't living in a cup. I wish we did it differently here.

I have never seen bettas in anything other than plastic cups or small bowls. I have seen them at best in large cups, probably 23 ounces? The worst is Pets Supplies Plus who keeps theirs in tiny cups. Small eough to fit in your car cup holder and only about 4 inches tall. I pull all the dead ones to the front so people will see them and kids will get scared into not buying them. Kinda cruel ( to the kids) but the employees just push the dead ones to the back when they get a new shipment. Its bad.

i bought my new CT last week from a great fish called dartford aquatics. They guy was really helpful and all the bettas were kept in the regular displays with the other fish.

So those of you that live near kent check em out
