Hi guys, currently have a 55 gallon which I know long term is overstocked but looking to rehome everything and start a discus tank soon. Anyway recently my Severum has been a bit shy and hiding and I noticed this evident dent above his eye?? He will be rehomed in the next few weeks as I now know it is not suitable. The tank is over filtered and the parameters are all perfect. Is this hole in the head? What can I do to help it? Could it be nipping from tetras or something else. Want to make sure it is comfortable for the next couple weeks and what I can do to help. Other than being a bit more shy, he is acting normally. Thanks

I have kept lots of Severums, I would say nothing to worry about, just monitor it. If it starts to grow, there could be a problem.

I’ll try to get a clearer picture as it looks very strange. Like a tiny but deep hole just above the eye

Like I say he seems very shy and hides when I walk near the tank. Perhaps he has been attacked or caught it on something. Definitely behaving differently

1 Severum
1 angelfish
1 EBA
8 serpae tetras

I know long term overstocked, the EBA and Severum are still young. Will all be rehomed in the next couple weeks regardless, just worries about this deep dent in the Severums head.

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 15/20ish

Nice tank, just a strange fish choice. Little guys like Serpaes don't mix well with large Cichlids, you need to decide which direction you want to go. You are not over stocked I had these guys in 250 liters. About 30 fish

I think these are the first symptoms.of.HITH indeed.
