You should not be able to see through the fins of an opaque white (or black) betta.

So then what is it? I wouldn't care anyway because he's very healthy for a petco betta, and has lots of personality
 
no-that is not an opaque betta. opaques have an opaque (as in-its not transparent at all) milky layer on the top layer of skin.
hes a mutt.
 
I've noticed Petco only sells viel tail males. But their color variety has grown.
