Its perfectly posible to keep them in an aquarium but as i said, only if you have like a 20ft long fish tank which i doubt anyone here does.

I see a fairly large redtailed cat there (possibly two) too so that's going to be one very large tank. From the looks of the tank and the paneling underneath, it's probably a zoo or professional aquarium.

Wow that was a huge fish dude. But I would just stick with arowana instead lol think about the feeding bill before u buy a fish. And also think about how scary it is during water change and the size of ur tank :). I mean you shouldn't use tank lol much likly pond for sure. Tank is way too small for them.

Holy crap this fish is insaned lol dont bother keeping it at a tank. Should use pool or huge pond when you think about having one. Its too biggggggggggggg. And also dump visitor who talk crap to u to the pond lol.

Since we're on the topic....can they chew up a liner if they wanted too (standard 45mil edpm..)?

You know for a fact it would destroy glass ;)

I also saw a picture in the newspaper a few weeks back of the largest fish ever caught. It was a giant catfish, weighed about 350 kilo's!!!

Yeah that was a mekong catfish, very endangered fish indeed.

As to the other fish, you'd have to wear armour just so it doesn't bite your arm off when you do a water change  !

Every time I see a RTC, it makes me want to get one. Eventually I'll actually do it if I get my way and build a massive indoor pond. :D

Arapaima gigas (or Piraracu as it is sometimes known) can actually get past 13 feet long, but due to overfishing it is believed next to none exist at this size now.

By the time they get around 7 to 8 feet long each scale can exceed 3".

arapaima gigas can get to about 10 feet and in the amazon, they jump out of the water and eat birds from the trees in the rainforest above.
