Once my tank is finally cycled i nedd to stock it up, i currently have 3 red fin columbian tetra and 3 neon tetra...

dwarf gourami x 2 or dwarf cichlid x 2
Pair of black sailfin molly or siamese fighters
7 more neon tetras
2 Amano shrimp

my tank is 23.5" x 14.5" x 11.5" inch width x height x depth. It will be quite planted with an airstone/air pump and some wood etc

If your getting the dwarf gourami it would have to be 1 male 1 female and you wouldn't be able to get a Siamese fighter other then that everything else seems fine

yes it would be a pair of each, I really cant decide between cichlid or gourami :( so betta and the others wouldnt mix then?

I would skip the mollies, as they will out grow your tank. Leave out the Bettas not good community fish. Raise the number of Columbian tetras as well to 6-8. Dwarf gourami or cichlid will work. Good luck.

I'll have to disagree there, mollies reach around 4cm in size, they would be fine. Bettas do well in a community but only a male on his own. Multiple bettas in one tank will kill each other. They also don't mix with gouramis so you'd have to have one or the other. Long finned male bettas also don't mix with nippy tetras like neons so I'd say you should definitely avoid getting any bettas in that sort of set-up. :)

okies so no bettas, but I can still get sailfin mollies wahoooooo, well only 2!

If you want fry from the mollies I'd suggest 1m and 2f (to spread the aggression from the male), but if not then you can just go with 2m instead. :good:

Mollies should reach a lot bigger than 4cm, try ~12cm, they definitely need at least a 3-foot tank.

Overall, you should be looking at <40cm of adult sized fish in this tank, so basically your school of Neon Tetras, possibly with the Amano Shrimp.

well I'am planning on getting a bigger tank so I could have room for fry, also I'll be giving the tetra away so there will be 3 less fish

Wow, really?
Sorry mrvillicus, I wasn't aware of that!

You could have some platies instead? They're livebearers too but don't grow so big. :good:

mollies require a tank of at least 30gallons so its a no no as mines only 17gal

Bad info IMO. I wouldn't do mollies because they should reach about 10 cm. Female bettas can be kept together but must be kept in 5+ groups.

I'd do
8 neons
2 dwarf cichlids
2-3 platys if you want something like mollies.
Shrimps.

Doh, clearly haven't had my brain switched on :S
Females can be kept in groups but can be just as fiesty as males, so the more the better.

I see another tank that needs coldcazzie's tardis (recently for sale) to be added... This tank is only ~60l, such a small volume of water can go very bad very quickly. The stocking levels that are being thrown about in this thread, as often happens for ~60l tanks, are far more in line with ~125l stockings.
