I want to take a 2 liter bottle (for soda) and cut it in half, clean it really good.
Then burn and cut the top part of the lid off, so that it can still twist on to the top of the bottle.
Use net stuff http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j00uvFtMYHUVqpT/Metallic-Yarn-Net-Fabric.jpg I got mine from an old laundry basket.
Cut a circle out of the fabric bigger than the hole of the bottle cap, then place it in and twist on the lid.
Put the top of the bottle upside down into the bottom half of the 2 liter.
To make it stay in place in the aquarium, burn a hole in the top of the top, and place a string or bendable wire through the hole and tie it to the lid of the aquarium, I have a tank stand http://imgc.classistatic.com/cps/poc/120607/085r1/8637nda_26.jpeg sorta like that, that I can tie the string to. and you can place the net material over the top so they can jump out if you don't have a lid.

I think it would be a lot cheaper and roomier than most store bought breeders. Should I try to make it? Your thoughts?

WOW thats a lot of description I struggled to picture it in my head, any chance of a ms paint diagram or something? LOL

Step one: get a 2 liter bottle and cut it across the dotted line

Step two: Put hole in it for circulation and one at the top to put the wire/string though

Step three: Burn/Cut the top of the lid and put net cloth in position (couldn't draw the cloth net, sorry)

Much easier to understand LOL
Looks like it could work yer so long as your sure the mother has enough room to not get stressed and that the fry's waste can be removed frequently enough.

I have a separate fry tank. After the mom has had all her babies I plan on taking out the mom and moving the fry into my fry tank.
:good:

Absolutely! I'll probably make a new post and make a tutorial or something. I made one out of a water bottle, but it was just too small.
