if you already have 2 females i would divide the tank into 4 2.5 gal sections put 2 males and your existing 2 females each in there own sections, that way you only have the one tank so not so much for mum to complain about and no worries about them damaging each other.

also, with regards to cleaning up. if they don't eat much, don't feed them so much! 2-3 betta pellets 2-3 times a day should be fine and get gobbled up quickly, with occasional treats of things like bloodworm, mosquito larva and maybe once a week a bit of cooked skinned mushed up pea
and not feeding them for 2 days is no problem, they can go for a week or more without food with no problems, in fact it can be good to fast them one day a week to prevent constipation problems (so does the pea)
