Well i had an order and I switched it for the third time at big als (wow they are patient there lol and great service) and got some onyx sand. Hopefully my water will be ok and should help with the plants and easier to clean. Also be nicer for the cories i am eventually going to get.

African Dwarf Frogs... but its hard to feed the poor froggies when you have a betta in the bowl
Cories (i think those are the algae suckers)
Ghost shrimp definitely.. however, if theyre small shrimp the betta will eat em

Amano shrimp do fine with bettas, they're almost as big as the fish
as for cories, I keep 3 right now, but I had 5 when I got them, but 2 died shortly afterwards.

Well teh odest thing happened. ok so as i mentioned before both my snails died mysteriously. I saw no eggs or anything in teh tank but who knows might be in some crevice. so the other day i see this tiny tiny thing sliding over my fake rock formation thru teh hair algae i have been growing. No idea if that is a good thing but i saw a tank where there was some on a log and it looked good and it just a small patch. teh rest of my aquarium is clean of it. anyways today im sitting there and there he was again. No idea if he wa the same one. Betta was sitting there eye ballinghim for like 10 minutes folloing it around and doing nothing.
Anyways now that it is a bit bigger this snail looks like an apple snail of the sort but I am not sure to it gets bigger. ihad snails when i was a kid and this looks liek those small ones.
I do have plants but i find it weird that after a coule weeks of plants isee this tiny tiny one and then a day later it is this big.
Its like around the period of when the other snails died when this one came around.
For all i know there may be more but i cant see them.
