Is There Anything I Can Do Now?!!

awe, the oor goldfish, and you too, Goldfish are a hard fish to loose, IMO, as they are kept in small groups, as the 10 gallon thing, and you get attached to them, like bettas.

I hope the other one pulls through! Good Luck with him!

Hope this one makes it, good luck.

He's died already!!! We put him in the tank with some melafix and an hour later he was dead!! We bought some new koi for the pond yesterday so we've taken the other goldfish out as we dont want to risk them passing any diseases onto the koi! We're going to keep an eye on all the goldfish in a tank for a couple of weeks and strip out and clean the pond again tomorrow!!!

I noticed anyother one of the goldfish had a little white lump on his side. I've sperated him but im really hoping its not the same thing the other two had :(

You still run the risk of the Koi getting it if you didn't clean the pond. Is it a plastic pond you get at lowes or a dug pond?

If it's plastic, you need to drain it and pour some boiling water in it and wipe it out real good. Boil everything., filter, pumps, etc.

Then the koi should be okay.

Goldfish:

Is the white spot big. or just a dot?

If it's big, and looks like fuz, its the same thing the other two had.

But if its small, like a grain of salt, then its probably ich. If treated he'll be okay, but if you let it get out of hand, it can be fatal.

I am so so sorry for your losses... I just lost one of my guppies to columnaris. :rip: little goldfish.

You should really of added any new fish till the pond got sorted out, how big is it, and what filter system do you have, thes pond does wan't cleaning as the columnaris desease is in it.

Hey Jessica,

I really hope your goldfish pulls through. If you do have to euthanise him though, please don't take the advice given before. It's been debated on this forum many times, and most of the time the outcome was that it's not a nice way for them to go.

If you're unfamiliar with euthanising fish, please read this pinned topic:

I have never had to euthanize, but that was what I was told to do, well by an LFS! They told me it was painless and quick :( . I feel so bad now...

I'm sorry I was missleading with my advice...

I hope I can be forgiven :(

Hey mlee,

Don't worry about the advice you've given, noone blamed you :) Many people swear by euthanising fish the way you were told, others claim it's a bad way to go ... I'm not sure if we'll even find out which is true. Really though, don't feel bad about it

Jessica,

I'm really sorry to hear about both your fish! I really do hope it will not pass onto the kois and that they'll be ok.
