Hi.. Ive been in a similar prob with my guppies over the past few months and finally diagnosed with Columnaris and have done a two week treatment..all signs of fungas etc has gone a death rate has dropped to none. But my gups are showing signs of itching through scartching on plants etc.. I have ruled out gill flukes although suspected that, but apparently it kills young fry fast. My fry are fine, so next disease was ich.. same symptom is scratching...although treatment is different. Im about to try tablet form in tank tomorrow.. mlfs gave them to me and said it should clear it up. Im suspecting if your fish have no other symptoms but only scratching it could be ich. But if showing other signs along side scratching then its best you continue treatment, Are you using Sterazin?

Im no expert...this is just what Ive learned through endless research...Yes Im addicted to :fish:

if it was ich it would have shown up by now from what i ve been told so theres none and the plattie did have gill flukes as their gills are no longer red or inflamed and now coming out more to socialize more so thats good sign i take ...

The meds and the parasite will be making them flick wouldn''t worry just yet.
Flukes are hard to get rid off.
I've had flukes and that waterlife med never did a thing.
In the uk this is about the best med for flukes.

Hi.. Im not even 100% sure its ich in my tank either.. I'm sposed to be treating with tablets today and I feel really worried about doing it. I have sterazin sitting here also its a treatment for intestinal worms fluke etc...its a safer product i feel than the tabs that treats ich. Im so confused about what to treat for. None of my fish have white spots or anything, although a 3 month old teenage male has two orange spots either side of tail, Im wondering if the spots could just be new colour and markings coming out on him or if its a parasite. All my guppies look healthy except they are still flicking.

Do you know how to tell the two appart. Would my fry in the breeding net have ich if it were that? Sorry..Im not trying to take over your post, I have actually posted about this and waiting for reply. Just thought seeing you are going through a similar thing you might be able to help me combat this. I want to save my remaining guppies...Ive lost so many in the past month and all has been stable since treating with Melafix & Pimafix for Columnaris.

Cheers, Appreciate any help you may have.

Hi again. I know nothing about paradise fish, but could it be your fish is constipated? Ive heard if fish have too much in tummy it makes it very hard for a fish to swim properly. Does your fish look bloated? If this could be the case perhaps try feeding some frozen peas...of course defrosted and skin removed.

In the past when i have had fish swim in strange directions I generally find them dead soon later. I hope this is not your fish's fate. I would keep treating for fluke.

But remember Im no expert. Just trying to help with as much info as poss.

Cheers, Cathy
