Is Tetra A Good Fish Brand?

Why would you compare a TetraTEC 1200 to a Fluval FX5? I have 2 TetraTEC 1200's and a Fluval 305. I know which i would choose.

The 1200 is suitable for tanks upto 500 litres.

Also have a Tetra 100w heater and have never had any issues with it.

I say go for it mate. They're usually a bit cheaper than Fluval too.

How does it compare to the FX5? Why compare it to the 305?

Maybe because i've never owned an FX5 so a comparison would be somewhat pointless, therefore i offered up my option of it compared to the 305 which i have owned.

If you wanted a specific comparison of filters then maybe the model should have been mentioned in the previous post.

I just don't see any point in comparing one company's medium filter to another company's larger filter. That is like me comparing the FX5 to the Filstar XP1 just because that is the one I have used.

Anyways, It seems that the Tetras are much better overt there than the Marinelands are over here (they seem to be the same or closely related). IME with American canisters Fluvals are the way to go.

The 1200 is not the companies most powerful filter. The 2400 is. Maybe the 1200 should be compared to the 405 from Fluval, but i totally agree with Tizer, they're similar, in a similar range all be it the 1200 is more powerful granted. I don't rate the fluval 05 range's quality anywhere near as good as any of the TetraTEC filters, although is nothing drastically wrong with them. They also fill their filters full of media as oppose to Fluval who seem to skimp on it.

And TetraTEC customer services is far better than Fluvals, they seem to go out of their way to help you with any issues.

trying to see if they're reliable for heters, pumps and filters and if they can keep my fish healthy

i didnrt rate tetras air pumps at all the diaphragm on all mine went really quickly . best air pump i ever used was an eheim . same gos for cannister filters . for heaters id highly recomend rena smart heaters
