Is She About To Pop ?

the black area (gravid) has nothing to do with when she will drop. keep an eye on her size and behavior, and also there will be a white tube near her bumb that opens you will see it then she is ready.

My Platy looks identical to that in your photos, except for a red colouration spot on the tail. She's a quite a bit bigger than yours in the first photo, and still hasn't dropped. Can see the white donut on her behind, and the girth of her poop is bigger (is that any indicator or just coincidence?). She's a little less sociable lately, but my red wagtail hardly ever leaves her alone (not interested in my other female). I can see that from first post to dropping, yours took 9 days, so there may still be a day or 2 for me yet....

Not wanting to be overrun with Platy, so i'm leaving the fry to their own devices, if they can evade everything else then they'll be welcome to stay in the tank when they grow up. Theres a few plants to give them a fighting chance, and i've got nothing bigger than 3" in the tank, so once it's 1/2" long it should be safe.
