I don't know if you've seen, but PFK is giving away a 25L 12"x12"x12" nano tank to subscribers.

I was wondering if this would be suitable for a nano marine set-up, and if so, what extras would be needed and what could be kept in it?

Or is 25L too small even for a nano reef?

I want to set-up a small nano (the correct name for anything this small is a pico) and im thinking the exact same....

If you got a heater, then you could keep some live rock (LR) and some inverts like a shrimp and a couple of hermits too...

But the only thing im unsure about is the light...

Im trying to find out what type of light it is, because if its decent, then you could keep easy things like zoas and mushrooms, but if it isnt, then you could just have the LR and inverts.

have a look at my blog

nice! really like the sun coral.

...with your overflow if you split each box into 2 with a divider half way and a couple of inches tall you can put each end of the pipe in the interior sections and then you'll should have a much better chance of keeping the syphon even if you take the box out of the tank, because the pipe will always remain submurged. ...if you see what I mean!

That looks very smart, Ive got the exact same tank in the kitchen! Would'nt it be easier to just take the lid off than cut it up, or does it just look neater?

Coral looks great! is it difficult to keep going? i used to have a 16gallon nano but it wasnt that small. :good:

i've had a look at this tank going try put a link to it up would be intrested to know if others would attempt to use it to build a pico set up may be we could do it as a joint venture stage by stage

i was thinking may be a couple of kilo's of live rock not sure about substrate maybe none or just a scattering of crushed coral and livestock of a few hermits and maybe a white banded shrimp

the 25l free tank from pfk

Looks like a decent light! I just wonder if you can fit the Interpet power compact bulbs marine white/blue bulbs?

At the end of the day though, you could get an acrylic 10g, with heater lights and a decent filter for the smae price... :/
Maybe wouldnt look as tidy, but it would do the job :good:

just found this on ebay could it be made fit?

lighting

I would say that 13 watts is not sufficient

I upgrade from the standard 11 watts to 18watts day light and 18watts actinic pc's and now again to 70 watts MH plus the 18 watt actinic
