i have a 52.9 gallon tank which is about 200 liters...
it has 3 large angel fish, 4 medium sized discus, 1 large silver shark, 2 small bristle noses and 1 small whip tail.

Is this over crowded do you think :S...??

thank you.

Yep I think so, the discus require 10g each, so thats 40g already gone, Im not sure on the angels requirements, but 10g is probably their minimum too (happy to be corrected on this), as mentioned on your other thread about the discus not eating, the balas grow very large and are not suitable for the discus, the BN's are fine as probably the whiptail.

Ideally if you want to keep the discus, at a push, 4 discus, 2 bn and the whiptail should be plenty in that tank.

With only 4 discus in the tank it would look so empty... Then people question me when they see it... you know why is your tank so empty??...
and im just like well yeah... :(....

my sister has a 10 gallon tank its got 1 large rainbow shark 1 large bristle nose, 1 gold severum, 1 large electric yellow and heeps of other community fish.... and she has had it like that for about 1 and a half year... and only 1 guppy has died...

so i think ill keep it as it is! :)

So what was the point in asking the question?

Do what your sister do, and your screwed. Bala's will grow out of the tank..

): They will need good room to swim around.

I'm planning to return my bala, too :D

wont the Kala grow to a certain size and stop depending on the tank...
isn't that what fish do :S?

then maybe look at having a heavily planted tank? i imagine discuss tanks to be very natural and beautiful. some heavy planting could wrap around the center and make it look less empty

and if i don't like planted tanks.... :S

thanks for the idea though dude

have you seen a stunted fish thats been kept in poor conditions, just because the owner thought, they look nice or the tank looked empty?? they dont just stop growing to fit the tank, they get stunted, their internal organs get crammed and they dont live life to its full potential, very pityful sight to look at,if i was you i would be taking back all my fish till at least the time comes when i could be bothered to do my research before buying the fish, this is the second post of yours that ive read where you seem to be blatantly ignoring top quality advice, and have to say i find it bloody annoying to say the least  if you cant be arsed to look after them take them back!!

This is a bit like asking if I locked you in a 3ft tall box as a child wouldn't you stop growing?
Well you certainly wouldn't be 6ft when I let you out, (or more likely had to bury you), so I guess we could say that you stopped growing and only grew to the size of the box... agreed it wouldn't be comfortable for you, you'd likely have a deformed spine, compressed internal organs, and die sometime before you reached the age of 16, but to answer your question, yes, anything you put in a confined space will only grow to the size of that space until it dies.

For a good lesson on what happens when a fish "stops growing" look up a practice called foot binding, which applies the same principle to human feet, with painful, crippling, and often fatal results.

OK, thanks for the advise guys :)

thank you guys
