They've got some otos in my LFS that look very nice; no hollow bellies or anything.

Would a group of six be ok in a three foot with 6 panda cories, 18 silvertips and a clown plec?

Filter is a 650lph huge internal and the nitrates get up to about 25/20ppm between water changes; tank's been set up donkey's years; sand and gravel susbstrate with some wood and a few plants.

I've just never kept them before and not sure what they're compatible with.

Should be fine. A group of 6 will be nice as they are social fish. More plants is better than less, I have 4 in a heavily planted 235 litre tank, they have been there for a couple of years+ now. I usually leave the back glass of the aquarium untouched, so that there is algae for them to feed on. They like to rest on the leaves of plants.

Thanks for that; I might get some then; they're only £8 :hyper:

I've got a lot of flow in that tank that I think they might like too.

What do yours like to eat? Lettuce? Algae wafers? Or do they prefer more meaty?

They should be fine providing there is a continual supply of algae, Oto's are finicky eaters unfortunately, algae must be in a plentiful supply and things like lettuce, cucumber and algae tabs should only be supplementary, algae tabs aren't as good as the real thing.

Buy the fattest individuals they have and you should be good :good:

Thanks for that info, SBS :good:

Well, as I really don't have any algae to speak of, either in that tank or any of the others, I decided not to get any in the end.

But thanks for all the tips :good:
