My male black molly started to change colors and i was wondering if he is actually a platy. Also he is in the tank with female black molly who is not getting pregnant.

Im moving the two fish to a newly cycled tank in a few days and will add two other female mollies from my LFS.

can anyone identify my fish?

What's the Difference Between Platy and Molly Fish?
  • However, platies tend to have bodies that are shorter and rounder in structure as compared to mollies that are longer and a tad bit sleeker in appearance.
  • Mollies also tend to have a mouth that is facing upwards, as compared to the front-facing mouths of platies.

It’s a molly deffo I have a rare one he is Black with blue shiny speckles

he is kinda the alpha male in the pack followed by an orange sail fin and a black lyretail the rest are females of different variations hoping I’ll get some interesting fry eventually :)

However Im not breeding to sell and haven’t got them in breeder boxes or anything

all natural process and selection through hiding spots
