As title. The female is huge compared with the male so just wondering if she may be ready to drop soon

A side view would be much easier to determine how far along she is, also is she a ballon molly?

Thats a balloon molly so its hard to tell, best way to look at these to see if its pregnant is from a overhead view.

cant get an over head shot but she is very wide compared with the male, almost twice as wide id say
slightly better side pic

She looks about ready to give birth. She looks kind of squared off in the belly area and that is usually an indication. Good luck!

she is currently in my large 240l comunity tank so even if she does drop the fry will get eaten straight away id have though :(

could move her across to my 100l cory tank, the fry would stand a better chance of surviving in there id have thought ????

Move her with the corys they will have a much better chance of surviving and if she is allowed to drop in a large tank its not going to stress her out nearly as much as a breeding net/trap would.

I agree with stiffler, the back end on of her belliy is pretty much squared off, may drop anywhere from now to 3 days..

Dont stress her to much cos balloon mollies are a pain in the ass for holding on to thier fry too long when stressed.

Good luck, when she drops, be sure to feed the mother, she will be very hungry..

I suggest brine shrimp (frozen or dried cubed) or crushed flake for the fry ( i mash loads of flake up in a blender for my fry) :)

well ive now transfered them both over to the cory tank to give the fry a better chance, the breeding nets ready for if/when she does drop her fry so will just have to wait and see what happens, fingers crossed :)

i have brine shrimp and flake food so will use a combination of both

:good:

baby mollies should be on the way soon then, as long as i can get to them in time and the male doesnt eat them all

Put the male back in the community tank cause all he will do is cause her unecessary stress he will hound when she is giving birth she will appreciate it much more on her own :good:

females are usually larger than males of age, your balloon molly isn't showing a gravid spot at all
