Hi Everyone

I've just come to water change the tank and looking at my guppy it looks pregnant, could you please let me know if she is.

If it is any advise as I only set up a couple of months ago.

Thanks in advance.

With livebearers, you can generally assume the fish is pregnant all the time. So I would say yes, but she doesn't seem to be close to birth yet. You mention you set up your tank about a month ago, did you cycle it properly? Also what fish do you have in the tank and what size is the tank?

I set the tank up before Xmas. I have, 4 neon tetras, a mollie, 4 zebra danios, female fighter and 4 guppies. I have a 70litre tank.

Okay hopefully your tank is cycled so that is good, but if you could give us your parameters we could just be 100% positive that your water is safe.

next, your tank is overstocked. The major thing I see wrong is the 4 zebra danios. Danios need large and long tanks to be able to swim freely. If your LFS takes returns I would recommend giving them back or finding a home for them. I'm not really sure what a female fighter is maybe someone else can help with this? The guppies can stay, but this also brings up the question do you have hard or soft water? Mollies and guppies need hard water, but I have been able to keep guppies in soft water before so that shouldn't really matter. lastly, your neon tetras need soft water, so they may have to go depending on the hardness of your water.

Tetras need at least a school of six, mollies need at least 2 of, zebra danios need six or more, female betta @NickAu, and then the guppies.
Ok so your overstocked :)

Thank you for the replies.

Found out the receipt to my tank and I brought it on the 24th September.

All those fish are my original starter fish which I gradually brought and they are doing fine.

Since your comments I went to my local fish specialist, which is where I got my tank and fish. He has over 25 yrs experience and told him and showed him my set up and he said it's perfectly fine (including the amount of fish).

He confirmed the guppy is pregnant and my set up will be fine to cope with it as is willing to take the babies off me after they have matured.

Thank for your help

I don't see why you came and asked Us, professionals, these things if you think your guy at the LFS knows it all which I can assure you he knows the exact opposite of correct. We gave you our info, up to you to accept or deny it.

Just out of curiosity does this man work at a chain pest store or a privately owned one?
