I bought a African dwarf frog this week and he gets on his/her lilly pad and will start opening and closing his mouth. Is he singing? I can't hear any noise coming out of the tank so Im not sure if he is or not.

Mine sing from underwater, and there is no "physical" signs of singing. You won't be able to see them sing. They can be very quite when they sing, it sounds like a flourecent light buzzing.
Only males sing, you can tell if its a male if it has little white bumps in his armpits. If it is a female she will have a itty bitty tail and no bumps in her armpits. If you need a good resource for dwarf frogs try flippers and fins

I have 4 frog and they are just the cutest creatures, I love them.
