Is Live Rock With Algae On Bad?

Technically, in support of the purchase, if you have excellent water parameters, the hair algae should die. Adding chaeto in a sump would help with competition. If the price is right, I don't want to dissuade the purchase. Hair algae CAN be a nuisance. simonas should just know that he is bringing in a hitchhiker. SH

At £3 a kilo I would go for it, I would not scrub it myself you never know what you will kill might kill off some good things :)

Add it to the tank with Saltwater and heater, leave the tank unlit for a week defo no direct sunlight, add phosphate remover and circulation into the tank this should starve the algae of food and light.

Then do a 50% water change as the algae should die back and will realise phosphate into the water then do a phosphate test on the water before adding any stock ideally you are looking for non-detectable reading on the test kit. If you still have phosphates do another 50% water change.

This will reduce the algae quite a lot then the rest should be managed by a CUC quite easily.
