I've conditioned them for over two weeks..I've tried pairing two different couples..they just never do anything!

One couple actually built a bubble nest but nothing happened for a week..

The male in the other couple kept building a nest, and when I put him in the breeding tank and introduced the female later on, he did nothing!

Any tips? I've researched this many times..built the ideal breeding tank with live plants, cups, filter etc etc..

How long should I keep them in seperate tanks before releasing the female? should I feed them during that period? should they have light? blah blah..

I'm almost starting to give up on the whole thing..

I don't know how old they are..our fish stores out here have no clue..

well they should be old engogh if u got them at a lfs. i would probably just condition them longer on live foods. i wouldn't feed them during the mateing prossess or anytime wen the adult is in the breeding tank.

I think he/she's probably more concerned that they may be too old if they are pet store fish -_-

who knows.. maybe they arent compatible.. ive had females and males that showed no interest in each other at all.. switched a few around and they spawned quite fast.. i guess it depends on the fish.. dont give up !

ya, fish have personalitys to, and about the whole lfs bettas being to old thing, i dont think thats rely tru because of how they treat them its impossible for any of them to be older than a year

ya never know how old they are.. the place i work at has had a betta for almost a year.. its the only brown betta, and nobody likes it.. everytime someone looks at the bettas i show them the brown one cause its so cool, but everyone says it looks like poo and wont buy it.. so it is possible to get older ones from the lfs..

but my guess is that they probably just dont like each other.. i had a spawn go nuts.. the male and female fought and ripped each other apart.. put in a diff male and they spawned the next day.. really depends on the fish i guess..

well, i mean the place u work probably takes good care of ther fish because keeping them in cups isn't gunna make em live very long

how can someone not think a brown one would be kool? i saw a part brown part opaque one but i didnt have room and my mom wouldnt let me have him  he even had little bits of shimmery red... sorta like fishy... so pretty
