is it ok to take some of my stones that are at the bottom of the tank out as i feel i have way to much in there. i put as much as it told me to in the thing i got with my tank and it said to put it 5cm deep but as time has gone on i can see the muck in the stones and i want to take som out as i have way too many sitting in there.

if i did would this harm the fish at all? cud i just put my hand in and grap a handful of stones and take them out?

this would be fine.

the best way to remove substrate is start a syphon on a tube then just suck the gravel out, but grabbing it with your hands your going to be stirring al the crap up.

so taking it out with my hand isnt the best option, what can i use then? i need to get rid of some of the stones. if i syphon out the stones wont some of the water come out with it? plus these arent gravel is more like pebbles if u know what i mean.

if they are large pebbles and won't fit through a tube then you will have to use your hands.

if you are able to sython them out you just replace some of the water after like a small water change.

also just plan on doing a water change after you move stuff around. That way you'll take out atleast some of the crud that you are stirring up, and you'll be wanting to add water anyway to replace the rocks, so you might as well just do a little more.

The bigger the rock, the less crud you'll probably stir up (if you are only taking the top layer of them) because when they are bigger the crud gets farther to the bottom.
