hi i have new rio 400 since jan this year. internal taken out and setuped with two externals.
and its come with 300w heater. its seted to 28c but it keeps 25 to 27 normaly.
few days ago i have added an internal filter head (fluver4+) to boost flow.

since then my heater bit down.
today morning its 24.1.. what can i do? buy a hydor or jager?

i live in london/england

I'd always opt for 2 heaters instead of relying on 1 given the choice. If one breaks then the other will hopefully keep the temerature up.

I like Jager as they are part of the Ehiem group (good reputation), plus they tend to use lower wattage than other heaters. One thing to watch out for is that they are typically longer than other heaters. I found this out when they wouldn't fit in my sump :X

Ive always found the juwel heaters to never reach the temperature they are set to, they always keep the water temperature lower. As above, in that size tank, two heaters is a good idea, two will keep the water temp more stable and what you want it at and as said, if one fails, you still have the other to keep the temperature from dropping too low.

many ppl use juwel heaters.

hmm.. i was thinking to go for hydor 300w (ex!).. they seems to be good ones.

but with extrenal heaters, u can't fit them with spray bars.... can you?

i would use 2 x rena heaters by far the best heaters available in my opinion. as said above 2 heaters give better tank circulation of heat in larger tanks and also if 1 decides to break down then the other will heat the water a bit. try 2 x 200w very minimum or 2 x 250w or maybe even 2 x 300w maximum :good:
