Hiya,
I have heard alot about people feeding their Fish Cucumber, as this gives them the maximum health. I will do anything to make my fish healthier. Would it be good if I did give them some? With all the fish ive got, Mollies, Guppies and Neons be ok with eating it? If I were to feed them cucumber how much should I give them each day? :/

Thx, Missy xxx

You don't feed it every day just as a treat once a week, boil for a few minutes let cool down, some say remove the seeds from the miiddle, just abit of cucumba not a lot, get a rubber band feed to fish, hope yours like it as mine can't stand it, remove it the next day whats left.

Cucumber is great for any fish that will eat it. Veggies in general are good - Peas and zucchini work, and those fish that tend to destroy plants do great with leaf lettuces. These types of foods are easily digested and great for any omnivore or herbivore to pick at - like they would do in the wild - and you can feed it as often and as much as you like. I'd have a veggie clipped in there full time if it weren't so messy.

Boiling it first means just a few seconds. Cooked veggies break down in the tank. Some veggies they can eat raw, so it's always worth checking.

Hiya,
thx for the help! I will prob give them some later on and see what happens!

There has been some very lengthy discussion (almost arguements !) on the board about this. I will still stand by what I say and think it's best to feed raw organic veggies - a couple of times a week will do

Thanks Hun, I thought raw was ok but wanted to check. I am hoping to try my Neon's on some this weekend once I get a clip -_-

I shall do a search on the forum cucumber and read up on the discussions :)

I chose to drop it into boiling water for about 10 seconds, jsut to soften it up a little. My fish love any veggies I toss in there.

That is what I did. Not so much to cook but to soften. I actually tried both ways. You notice that I said did. I tried cucumbers, zuchini, lettuce, spinach, etc and none of my fish would eat them. The one exception was my otos which ate the zuchini and cucumbers. The down dise to that was that the otos quit eating algae and simply hung around on the side of the tank waiting for the next cucumber feast.

my BN's, clown plecs and normal plecs love cucumber, i just chop a slice of it, soak it in water till it sinks, pop it in and there love it,

actually my corydoras, and cichlids love it to :)

i usallu put a raw 1 inch wedge complete with seeds straight into the tank with a plant weight,my botias,L200 rainbowfish and rosey barbs all seem to like it,my keyholes, featherfin synodontis and beunos aires dont really bother about it much though.
I usually put it in around 1600 and take out the edges the following mornin around 0900,

I am also wondering about this. I have yoyo loaches and cories I think will love the cucumber. Im going to try it, I just hope I dont put too much in there...

My Pleccy LOVES raw cucumber, and the clown loaches have a munch too. The seeds are the first to go, and within a few hours all that is left is the rind.

Never bothered to heat it. I chop half an inch off it, cut it in half, and weigh it under a rock.

My neons completely ignore it, as do my guppies.
