I have just purchase a white/pink pulsing Xenia on line .. It has arrived within the time specified . But instead of white/pink it is black and grey and very lifeless/limp .. Do you think that it will survive or is it dead .. I have heard that they do not transport well . but as it was a reputable internet seller i would presume that they would not transport if they thought it wouldn't survive

ANY INFO WOULD BE HELPFULL

thanks guys

I suspect it is dead, but you never know, its always worth a try with Xenia - but as you rightly said it doesnt ship well - try to buy it from somewhere local

Stevie if you have no joy with it I can sort you a bit out. I have sold some large pieces on Ebay and not had an issue yet but I do send Special delivery and a heat pack which is £10, the downside of buying online.

Doesnt sound very healthy. If you feel confident enough take it out and cut anything that looks bad, if there is even a little bit that looks heathy they will take generally.

Thanks buddy ,, will keep that in mind .. this bit was sent next day before 1 ,, but no heat pack which i found odd ... but never bought any off the net... will wait till tomorrow ?? fingers crossed .. nothin looks good at present.. if it fails i'll give you a shout .. cheers ozzie

On a side note - I buy coral on eBay alot. There are some top sellers, allaquaticscouk, mailordercoral (although frags are very small), JBSMarines-just to name a few. I'm recently in a big despute with a seller who sent me a blasto frag, with no heat pack or newspaper for insulation and sent it on the wrong day and he's not wiling to refund unless I leave positive feedback. Not something I'll do because then others fall foul to his bad service. But never mind!
:)
Hope yours is ok!!

By the way hope this hasn't put you off buying on the internet, I can vouch for the above three on eBay. Also bought from Aquaticstoyourdoor.co.uk - fairly priced, decent size, and they'll get anything in that you want if you email them! 
Cockfields - although very small frags.

I always ad a 24hr heatpack at this time of year. For the sake of £1 not worth taking the chance in my eyes

Other good online suppliers

http://www.marinelivestock.co.uk (owner is Rob, best to phone or email on stock as he sometimes falls behind updating site. My last delivery off him had 3 heatpacks in. post is £9 however much you order.

Hi Ozzie .. No it hasn't put me off in fact i am going to look to see if i can find some sun polyps.. I have contacted the supplier of the xenia and this is the last corrispondance

ME

THEM
I'm not 100% sure to be honest, just because the bits I've had die have kinda gone into theirselves into a blob if that makes sense, so I couldnt really tell you, I no when I cut the Xenia to frag it it goes like a dark purple colour but picks up within a week if that's any help

Don't know about you but they don't seem to be experts with xenia ???

I dont frag em, I put rubble next to the mother colony and bits then move/grow onto the rock.

I might be able to sort you some xenia and a lovely piece of sun coral for a fair price if you can wait a couple of weeks or so. The sun is new growth and not fragged off my colony, there are over 15 heads on it.

Let me know anyway, no pressure ;)

Have a look at my journal to see what I have :)
