I would keep him in a seperate tank until he dies. I don't think it will be too much longer.

It would appear as though this is an isolated issue that he developed if , in fact, it is a swim bladder issue. The other barbs are fine. What may have cause this issue or is it something out of my control? He is the first fish I have ever had to get ill or have a "disability". lol! I am pretty up on my chemistry and tank treatment, so this shocked me.

I will post his status as soon as I get into the office. Maybe shoot another clip for ya'll. See ya soon!

Bummer. :byebye: :-( SFYL. Too many deaths. I had 6 fish die of a mysterious illness too. Now I bet all you guys who made fun of him feel bad, don't you. j/k  :p :D

 He was a great fish! lol! I am thinking about mailing it to America's Funniest Home videos though. lol! My buddy says I should! Who knows!

I will admit though... Watching that video always bring a "smile" to my face. lol! I had a few choices of Music I was toying with, but I timed that one right so that when it said "Shake your tailfeather" he did. :D He danced his little heart out! lol! :)

Damn, I don't have windows media player... From what you guys are describing, sounds like my old platy... I made the mistake of over cleaning my tank and had to re-cycle it, and this poor platy got really really sick... He didn't look like he could control very well where he was going, looked like a swim bladder disease but I think it was ammonia poisoning... :(

Hey guys!

After doing much reading I suspect a swim bladder disease or Flavo Bacteria. Either way, it does not seem to spread.

I did notice something though that perhaps you guys can help me out. I am thinking this is Fungus related. I noticed small yellow growths on the area where my cats like to hang out. Near the end of the video that the two shovelnose cats are is what I am speaking of. These are very small yellow growths and can be scrubbed off, but they have returned from about a month ago.

What am I dealing with here? Any help would be appreciated. I am thinking some sort of fungus eliminator is what I need. But I would like some closure. Thanks again for all the help thus far!

Algae? Did you see how clean his tank was? Beside, how would algae do that?

That reminds me of my poor red devil. At first he would have fits of flipping around, and swimming in circles with his nose pointed down. By a few hours later he would be fine, and begging for food. That went on for 2 weeks. But then he went down hill, and started spending all day everyday having what looked like epileptic fits. It was swim bladder, and I ended up putting down when he stopped eating altogether and could only lay on the bottom breathing. I hope your fish gets better, but if it is swim bladder I have a feeling he will soon be like that all the time.

Fiddlesticks, he is in a better place now. :( (I hope!)

Ger, thanks for the compliment on the tank. I maintain it constantly. Like clockwork is the maintenance schedule.

I am not sure what exactly is growing, I don't think it is algea. I will take a photo and post it up here tomorrow. But we will see. It is weird.

Thanks for posting the replies! Much appreciated!
