Your welcome. And to be sure he is a spotted plec go to www.google.com and click on images then type spotted pleco and see if thats it. If not type in sailfin pleco and see if thats it.

He is not being very helpfull! Lol.

This is not very clear as he was on the side glass when i took it, and i took it from the top looking down so his body looks squashed! I will try and get a better one tomorrow.

Yep, he's a sailfin or otherwise known as a gibby, think about getting a big tank for him as these guys can get to 2ft+ long;

Yip that is defo a leopard sailfin..I have 2 ov those also in a 4ft tank BUT will be going into a 6ft when they out grow their present tank one is 10" and the other is 7"

he should be ok in 4ft tank aslong as the depth is enough for him to turn around, it will have to be 16 or 18 inches front to back, i have had mine many years and its about 12", they are very friendly plecs no too skittish or too shy

I saw some pleco's at my lfs that really looked like they had leopard skin. Totaol leopard pattern!! What sort of pleco would that be? Is there somewhere where I can look at their pictures? The ones I saw were small, less than 2 inches.But I think they were very young ones

I love those Leopard Sailfins mine is 1 year old and already 9 inches. At present hes in a 55 but Im getting a 110 and will be moving him. He is named appropreately GIBBY!
