Actually I agree with whomever told you it's a L333 - it does not resemble the L66 at all (to to a small extent, but it's without a doubt in "my mind", an L333).

Are the L333's common or not? I paid £25 for him a few weeks ago. I had not seen a pleco like him before and fell in love the second I saw him .

I would say that'a very very good price. Looking at the Trimar stocklist, they charge £26.50 for an XL one - which I will read as an adult. And Trimar tends to be a good 20% cheaper than most London lfs's so I think you got yourself a deal there

They are not uncommon, but not common in the sense that you'll see them in your average lfs.
