Is having goldfish in a tropical tank bad?

Is having goldfish in a tropical tank bad? she seems happier in the tropical tank than in the little bowl though-which is worse?

From what I gather, ideally goldfish should not be exposed to the higher tropical temperatures. I've heard alot of people say they do though.
