one of my female guppys is showing obvious signs of pregnancy. However until this evening there were no problems. I have a Jewel Trigon 190 and she occasionally hides beneath the internal filter system. However when it is feeding time she is out like a shot. Tonight i fed the tank and she remained hidden and still has not come out and that was a couple of hours ago. Any ideas anyone or could it be something more sinister?

Cheers

Well my guppies did a very similar thing-it may well be happening for you :good:

all 3 of mine did this when they where giving birth...but mine hide near the bottom of the tank... is it safe for the babies to be born near a filter it wont suck them up or anything??
Also...try turning the lights of 4 a couple of hrs i did and she just keep on going and going with the fry..it was like hey dont watch me ...arrr dark she cant watch me in labour lol...
turning the lights of in the day may help u 2 save a few later rather then it happening at night and then they all get eaten...just a suggestion tho

Hi brillo1902
So did your guppy give birth?
One of ours is having babies as we speak. Her belly didn't go squareish, it remained and still is rounded. We knew it could be any day and have been keeping an eye on her. We got back tonight and when we fed them she didn't feed, she hung around the heater area quite low down, not moving much. Then we saw a baby. We have put her in a tank seperate from the others and so far she has given birth to 15. She ate one but hasn't been interested in any of the others. We are now transfering them to another tank as they are born. Amazing to watch, never seen it before. The pattern is tail in the air, lowers then gives birth. This is great because now I have seen the signs and can help the others without stressing them, hopefully.
Let me know how you got on.

Charlie

When my guppy gave birth (sadly died afterward and so did all of her fry) she didnt eat for 2 days ad stayed in 1 spot below the heater untill she had her babies then she swam for 5 minutes and was all bent out of shape then she died(same thing happened to all the babies about a week later).
