generally yes.....play sand has been refined and should be fine for substrate in aquariumss

Ive got play sand in all my tanks and would highly recommended it

Just be sure to rinse it very well, it has a lot of fine dust that will keep your tank cloudy for days!
Too late haha. I got lazy and only did it 5 times, now I have a cloudy tank and can’t even find my small plants

You could still do a basic water change with a vacuum to get the light stuff
I agree a water change with a gravel vac should hopefully do the trick

Yes. When i use new play sand I only rinse each batch five times. The "dirt" is not dangerous to fish or plants and it will settle out. I also do the 100% water change after I have aquascaped the tank (and before adding the fish. obviously). Draining the water down to the sand and then filling by using a bowl into which the fresh water runs will almost eliminate the cloudiness.

I wish I could but I already did too much damage to the tank by replacing the sand and one of the two cartridge plus a 10% water change..

it will settle. if it doesn't after 24-48 hours, then do another water change then.
