We live on well water, pH is 6.0 or below, dkh and dGH are at about 3 each. It has some other metals but are all "OK" for humans. I have a betta in an 8gallon planted tank, no supplements.

Our water treatment system needs to be replaced to remove ferric iron and raise the pH. The system is Greensand with calcite, exact model: 1054D Media Tank Greensand (2 CuFt)/Calcite (1 BG), w/Dome Hole, w/ Clack

Is it fish safe?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, Both media are natural, one is used to remove iron and manganese by oxidation, that doesn't release any harmful substances. The other is to increase the PH.

Test your water parameters, especially PH and hardness after installing the new system. This will ensure that the system is working effectively and that the water is suitable.

If your water parameters change significantly after the system installation, it's important to acclimate your fish gradually to the new water conditions. This can be done by slowly changing small amounts of the new water to the tank over time. It will add calcium and bicarbonate to the water. So it's a good idea to let the water sit a while before testing and using it.

Depending on the softness and buffering absorption of your water source, the effects of bicarbonate could be temporary and after a while your water can acidify back. Your system should have a way to adjust calcite output so you can control this.

Great, thanks, that kinda fits with what I was thinking. I'll ask them if there is some kind of sensor that releases calcite or not.
