May be buying a 240L tank in the next 2 days (want a 400 but think it may be too big for new house) and it doesnt come with a filter so im thinking of buying a fluval 305 and using that....on its own (or maybe with 1 powerhead) Would this be ok? Im going to fishless cycle it when i set it up in new house (2 weeks away) and then the tank will be stocked to abot 1.5" per gallon...eventually

OR..would the similar spec eheim be better?

This is my personal opinion...but i am a firm believer in good turnover to prevent algae and other stagnant areas etc...i would go for something like 10* flow

do two tetratec 1200's would be my choice...or the eheim equivalent. but remember... some brands state the output with the filter empty...once the media is in it is more or less halfed!

There's good turnover and there basically just extream OTT, fair enough if you keep majorly dirty fish then MAYBE!!!.. but you dont need 2 ex1200 on a 240l tank... There is otherways of getting flow in a tank than adding to OTT filtration... you have a marine tank you should already know that.

i have loads of flow in my tank but algae just keeps coming back ####ing algae!!!!!!!!!!
